After the Cold War, with the rapid development of China's economy, China's comprehensive national strength and international standing have significantly risen. Before and after the 21 st century, Australia's China policy is significant changed. China-Australia relations are also changed. The change of China-Australia relations in Howard age is especially highlight, it can be said a great leap forward, a better developmental stage of China-Australia relations, too. China and Australia once became a model of cooperation which based on different social systems, different level of economic development and different cultures. As the most developed country in the southern hemisphere and the world's largest developing country, the influence and role of Australia and China in the Asia-Pacific region is about the peace and stability in the region. Therefore, study Howard age's bilateral relations are good for both countries and the people of the world.The evolution of Howard age's relations toward China is gradually formed in a certain developments and changes of international environment, strategic environment and ideas. The adjustment of relations with China is based on enough cognition and consideration of China. Australia's relations with China in accordance with the circumstances, the key elements of its adjustment are China's national strength and its own economic interests. The change of China-Australia relations is tortuous. Politically, Australia follows and attached to the United States for a long time, to pursue the interests of the alliance. Economically, the Australia government changes when the situation changes and takes the initiative to adjust relations with China, striving for the best trade interests with China. In the process, China-Australia relations tend to be more closely and mature. Based on Howard age's China-Australia relations as the study object, using historical analysis, literature analysis and analysis of induction interpret this period's bilateral relations systematically, from the perspective of Howard age's adjustment toward China policy to analysis the development and evolution of China-Australia relations, taking economic development as the main line and divide the development of China-Australia relations into two stages. On this basis, from the security concepts, Australia's alliance, economic factor, China reason, the Asia-Pacific strategy, anti-terrorism cooperation six aspects analysis the main factors which influence the development and evolution of China-Australia relations, and analysis the characteristics and influences of China-Australia relations during the age of Howard, to highlight the Howard age's diplomatic thoughts and goal interests change that reflect the China-Australia relations.
