A General Discussion On The Development Of Fingerprint Technology

The fingerprint technology is a widely used technology applied to the fields of legal proceedings, the medical diagnosis, economic and social management and so on. It has experienced a history of thousands of years from the birth to develop into a multi-disciplinary and multi-domain application discipline.Fingerprinting experts of various countries thought that ancient China, the first one using fingerprint to distinguish individuals, is the origin of fingerprint technology. The article has first analyzed the ancient history of the development of China fingerprint technology; beginning with fingerprint unconsciously left behind on the earthenware from the Banpo ruins, to the fingerprint pattern being skilled in distinguishing and for creative use, and ultimately, to the fingerprint used as a legitimate individual identification mark, it has experienced a long process. During the Tang Dynasty, along with the exchanges of commercial and legal systems, fingerprint technology had been spread to countries one after another like Japan, India, Arab and so on. Afterwards, it was introduced to the Western countries and laid foundation for the birth of modern dactylogram.The second part of the article analyzed the birth and development process of modern dactlography. During the 19th century, scientists, police officers, administrative staff in western advanced capitalist countries absorbed and transformed the Chinese tradition fingerprint technique, and raised it from experience to the level of science involved in multi-disciplinary and multi-domain. And after 1902, it was implemented rapidly to the whole world, and defeated the human body measurement ruling in Europe for more than 20 years.Finally, this paper analyzed the fresh development of fingerprint technology since the foundation of PRC. After that, our staff on fingerprint technology absorbed the advanced methods of foreign countries and unified our country's supervisory work on ten figures of fingerprint norms. After the Cultural Revolution, China's fingerprint technology stepped into modern development stage, with endless research achievement. Meanwhile, this paper analyzed the status quo of China's fingerprint technology as well, and pointed out the gap existing between China and developed countries.on the basis of having collected a great deal of information in the field, I made an analysis to the academic circle and also newest academic trends related to the paper, and conducted a further study on the fingerprint development history from the perspective of theoretical level. It will be helpful in stimulating our fingerprint technical personnel's' scientific research passion, and will be significant for the promotion of China's fingerprint technology to have a comprehensive development, and for retake of China's fingerprint technology to walk in the front row around the world.
