Abstract/Summary:
Where there is power, there is supervision. To put power under the effective supervision by the people is a must to reflect power's nature, to avoid damage to the people, and to eliminate the corruption through power. Power supervision is important and indispensable to Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory, which share and differ in some aspects. Mao's thought upon power supervision is the direct theoretical sources of Deng's, which, on the contrary, is an inheritance from and development to Mao's. Both of their thoughts are of distinctive characters due to their differences in historical situations, practical base, thinking patterns and characteristic personality. A relatively deep comparative study of their thoughts upon supervision not only enhances our knowledge of the necessity of power supervision, but also provides us with a clear guidance to the exploration of our power-supervising system under such a new situation. It makes both theoretical and realistic significance in terms of completing and perfecting the socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics. This thesis falls into three parts as follows:Part I: a comment on the similarities of power supervision in Mao's and Deng's thoughts from the perspective of their theoretical sources and characters, realistic facts and basic principles, etc.Part II: a description of their different ideas upon the issue of power supervision under various historical periods and situations and a further analysis of Deng's development and transcendence of Mao's ideas upon power supervision.Part III: through this comparative study, guided by their thoughts of power supervision, and summarizing related experience and lessons obtained from different historical periods in China, the author comes forth with some useful suggestions and enlightenment over the further perfection of our power-supervising system.
