Russia Energy Diplomacy After The Cold War

In face of the variation of the world pattern when the cold war ended, Russia started to adjust its foreign energy strategy and improve the energy diplomacy policy. One of the main marks Russia raised its status in international community is the energy relation with the Unite State, European Union and China. When Russia and these countries established energy diplomacy, greatprogress has been made among them, which attracts the world attention. Base on expounding the achievements on energy diplomacy Russia made and the development of the energy relation among them, the thesis tries to discuss the strategy and characteristic of the Russia energy diplomacy and analyze the factor that will influence the future development of their relations.The thesis begins with expatiation on the position of global energy security, especially the security of supply and requirement affected by Russia. In the second section, by analyzes the practice of the Russia energy diplomacy, the author selects two aspects to state: the strategy and characteristic of Russia energy diplomacy. The thesis analyzes the reason why the Russia chooses such energy diplomacy: on strategy, state interests, geography and great nation balanced strategy; on characteristic, the author selects pragmatism to analyze. And then the thesis reviews the evolvements of the Russia energy diplomacy after the cold war and the influence of Russia energy diplomacy on the Unite State, European Union, China and Saudi Arabia. On that basis, the thesis discusses the prospects of Russia energy diplomacy: On diplomacy, the come-and-go of top leader will happen frequently and the interactions will be unceasing; on economy and trade, the turnovers increased rapidly in the successive years, and holds that the development of their relations will not be smooth. The main factors that hinder it are the shadow of cold war, the struggle on state interests and obstacles on economy cooperation. "Cooperation and resistance" will be the main stream of their relations in the future.
