On The Issue Of China's National Defence Modernization In The Background Of The New Military Revolution Of The World

The new military revolution, as the product of times, has had and will continue having profound effects on the military field as well as on the strategic pattern of the world and the international security environment. And it will bring severe challenges and developing opportunities.In the tide of new military revolution, there have been some achievements in the construction of our national defence. However, mechanization and informationization haven't been completely realized yet. Our country is facing to the real threat, for example the complicated geographic environment with hidden crises; pro-independence forces in Taiwan are still carrying on the splitist activities, cross-straits situation is complicated and hostile forces'intention of restricting Chinese Taiwan hasn't been changed; the security of border area is not bright; the fight for the sovereignty of territorial waters, the rights and interests of the waters and strategic resources tends to be complicated, which makes maintaining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation and national strategic interests complicated; some countries take arms expansion as the core, and continue adjusting military strategy, which make the pace of arms race in Asia-Pacific speed up and have direct effect on the security of the periphery of China. To adapt to the development and the changes of national and international security situation, we must adjust the national security strategies and promote and drive the construction of national defence with Chinese characteristics to make sure of gaining the strategic initiative.To realize national defence modernization with Chinese characteristics has been the idea of leadership of three generations since the foundation of the state. However, because of the different situations and tasks in different periods, our construction of national defence modernization has gone through decades of years. And now it steps into a new historical stage, with new stage, new situation and new tasks. At the new start point, we must make a further study in the characteristics and laws of international new military revolution, and explore the way of realizing the modern development of arm forces. With the condition of new military revolution, we should face to the challenges directly, seize the opportunities, make the full use of post advantages and choose the way of great-leap-forward development to initiate a new situation of the construction of the defence and military modernization.
