Development, as an eternal theme for human society,is also an eternal theme in the process of building socialism with Chinese characteristics. Nowadays, the drastic competitions all over the world both in different countries and various social systems in the final analysis also center on this issue. Therefore, what is development, how to develop, and so on, becomes questions which people have unceasingly proposed and tracked down during different historical stages with confronting different kinds of contrasts.According to the integrated principle between history and logic ,as an entrance of analyzing development and development concepts . Since the Reform and Open Policy, Deng Xiaoping﹑Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao have put forth their own distinct development ideas .Based on dissimilar periods of China's social development and features of their various stages, their development issues have various emphasizes. In this chapter, author has mainly expounded development and connotation of development idea from philosophy angle. Based on combing and analyzing the western development concepts and Marxism development concepts ,then put forward development concepts as a comment ,comprehension and innovation of development practice ,along with development of social history and continuously develop or change. The Marxist development concepts is a comprehensive, sustainable development idea.The second part is divided into three chapters: Chapter 2, Chapter 3, and Chapter 4. This part has mainly elaborated historic backgrounds and practice bases of development philosophies of the three-generation leaders. It also has focused on basic contents of their respective development concepts.The third part is Chapter 5. This part mainly compared the contents of the respective philosophies of development of Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao. The three-generation leaders share some common ideas as well as some differences on the development issues.First, the development concepts of three leaders are advancing with the idea of the Marxist concept of development; have stressed need to take economic construction as the center, using development to solve various problems that China facing; emphasized fruits of development should be Shared by the people, and development should be people-oriented; stressed that development is a comprehensive and integrated development; stressed that the driving force for development is reform and opening up, and so on.Second, social backgrounds and practical foundations of their concepts are different; language for their own promoting ideas has its distinct features; guiding roles of concepts to China's social development practice are different.
