After "May storm" in 1998,Suharto fell out of power,Indonesia entered into Post-Suharto's Era.Habibie,Megawati,Abdul Rahim Wahid,and Susilo Bambang Yudoyono successively serve as the president of Republic of Indonesia.In the Post-Suharto's Era,great change has taken place in both international and Indonesian domestic situation.In the world, peace and development becomes the theme of times,the regional cooperation of Association of South-east Asian Nations is being strengthened, Sino-Indonesia's relation develops rapidly;In Indonesia,democratic reform movement springs up,the nation is confronted with the new political and economic problems,the government faces enormous pressure and challenge.Under such a historical background,presidents of Indonesia adjusted the policies towards Ethnic Chinese,some existing discriminative laws and stipulations have been cancelled;equal civil right has been given to them, which brings a lot of positive influence on the society of Ethnic Chinese. They begin to participate in politics,Chinese culture and education recovers,their economy gets new development.However,it is undeniable that some destabilizing factors still exist in Indonesia,some of the people still hold negative attitude towards Ethnic Chinese.Facing such a situation,Ethnic Chinese should hold apositive attitude towards the changes of government's policy.With great efforts,they will create a better condition for their living and development.
