On Pan-Turkism And Strategies For Chinese Security

Pan-Turkism is a political wave in the middle and late 19^th century, which has,a rising-declining history of more than 100 years.The resurgence of Pan-Turkism since the end of Cold War,which is closely related to the issue of"Eastern Turkistan",has drawn great attention.This thesis firstly analyses the origin and development process of Pan-Turkism in detail,which shows Pan-Turkism has become an extreme nationalism and a tool for other countries to control the Turkic-speaking regions. Especially after infiltrating into Xinjiang in China,it has gradually become an extreme national separatism and terrorism,which has been harmful to political and economical security of the nation.On this basis, this thesis proposes the main strategies for dealing with the harm of Pan-Turkism.And the whole thesis consists of three parts:Part One introduces the origin and development background and process of Pan-Turkism,including the early relationship among Eastern-turki terrorism of China.Part Two focuses on the harm of Pan-Turkism to China's national security,which will be illustrated from two aspects:Firstly to introduce the harm to national political security from the point of region and country;Secondly to introduce the harm to national economical security including such.important issues as threat to energy security,effect on western development in China as well as harm to the security of people and possession.Part Three proposes the main measures Chinese government takes to deal with the harm of Pan-Turkism,including the following three aspects: keeping on carrying out and perfecting the Regional Autonomy of Minority Nationalities;deepening the function of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and carrying out mutual-aspect anti-terrorism cooperation; and making greater effort to promoting Western Development Drive, economical development in ethnic minority areas as Well as strengthening national cohesion and national centripetal force.
