This dissertation researches the history of British Navy which developed and rose in the age of sails in terms of geographical environment,naval tactics and technology,naval policies and manning.It summarized the historical experiences of the British Navy in the periods of its rising processes,and will be of some use to review the historical processes of the rising of the Great Britain in terms of sea power and to summarize the regular rules in the development of the navy.The first chapter introduces the purposes about why this article selects this topic, and reviews the situation of academic researches relating to the subject of this thesis.The second chapter expounds the advantageous conditions of the British Navy rising in the age of sails,including the advantages in geography and the continuous attentions to the navy from the sovereigns.The third chapter emphasizes the important factors in the processes of the rising of the British Navy,including money,manning,and the advantages in technique and tactics.The forth chapter introduces the shortcomings in the British Navy,including the treatment of the sailors and corruptions.The conclusion explained the referential usage of the experiences of the rising of the British Navy to China,which is constructing a nation with great sea power.
