The Modern West Cultural Thought Under The Materialistic Historical View

The contemporary western cultural thought,as the direct reflection of social existence in the lay of social thought and culture,has unique historical background and characteristics for its emergence and development.Namely,under the social background of industrialization and post-industrialization,the main body of culture from beginning to end seeks for the transcension of cultural dissimilation,and during the transcension the main body criticizes the dissimilation itself.To make scientific and objective positive evaluation and negative criticism,it takes the historical materialism as the angle of view,and under the materialistic historical view,it closely reviews the following four main theoretical forms of modern west cultural thought one by one:modern historical philosophical cultural thought,post-modernistic cultural thought,capitalistic cultural contradiction thought,and global cultural thought.This possesses the most important realistic meaning and theoretical value for the study of the change and the development of west cultural thought.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part reviews the basic and general situation of modern west cultural thought,discusses the social precondition and media basis of the appearance and development of modern west cultural thought,and discusses the basic characteristics of the unification of transcension and criticism that is given by modern background and the main body of modern west cultural thought to cultural dissimilation.The second part begins with the introduction to the four main theoretical forms of modern west cultural thought,and then one by one discusses the basic theoretical features and main theoretical views of modern historical cultural thought, post-modernistic cultural thought,capitalistic cultural contradiction thought and global cultural thought.With relevant theories of the nature and function of culture under materialistic historical view,the third part examines the four main theoretical forms of modern west cultural thought.It finds out that all kinds of theoretical forms of modern west cultural thought have their own reasonable features as well as unavoidable historical or theoretical limitations.
