The political modernization is an important branch of the research in modernization, especially in the political modernization of the developing countries of the third world; we should pay enough attention to it. In this text regarding Jordan as the individual case, through analyzing the political characteristics of the Jordan region from Ottoman kingdom.From tribes system into national system and the foundation of political system during the formation of national country ,these two clues will help further investigate historical process of the political modernization, of Jordan.Chapter one is in purpose of putting forward the comparative distinctive analysis frame. On the basis of recommending about the research of Jordan's political modernization both at home and abroad, so the concept of political modernization has been explained.Chapter two is analyzed the characteristics of the political structure of Trans-Jordan during the domination of Ottoman kingdom. Experiencing the process of Bedouinism for a century, Trans- Jordan area is in status of marginalization, and have formed a indigenous society that agro-farming and nomadic mixed each other, the tribes occupies the dominant position in the local society. " Tanzimat Reformation strengthens the management of Su-Dan government in Trans- Jordan, also sets up local administrative system. However, Ottoman kingdom's reformation of the tribal society has military characteristics, so tribes system is not incorporated in the governance system of Ottoman kingdom. After the WWi, Faisal devotes to set up the unified kingdom of Arab. But from Conference of San Remo it is determined to transfer Syria and Lebanon to Frances'management. After the collapsing of the regime of Damascus, the Trans- Jordan returns to the scattered political order.Chapter three focuses on the combination of tribes system and national system and the course of political system development. Through analyzing the legitimacy of the basis of Abdullah politics, prove British government and tribe's dominant function on the process of Jordan national politics. On the attitude towards tribes, Abdullah adopt the tolerant policy, and Britain suppresses it, both don't succeed. Columbus adopts the policy of fighting and relying, and succeeds in making tribes as a kind of political strength during the process of transformation of tribes to country. In this period The national movement runs highly, the national political party begins to appear. The goal of the struggle in nationalism movement is to strive for the independent political position, and obtain the victory finally. However, Britain has still kept a large number of privileges after the independence of Jordan; Jordanians will continue the fight for it. Meanwhile, because the political party emerges from the womb of the traditional tribal society, exists the obvious limitation.Chapter four has analyzed the achievements and hardships of Hussein's reformation of the political modernization under the common influence of various ideological trends such as nationalism and foreign forces. Hussein has extended the reformation directed to freedom and democracy, but the national radical who influenced by Egyptian revolution holds a negating attitude to the monarchism, and then threaten the royal power, lead the reform fails. During the struggle to " Baghdad Pact, the nationalism force revolt again, they not only make the plan of attending Baghdad Pact fails, but also let Hussein relieve Glabb's position as Chief of the General Staff finally, having got rid of the Britain's control of Arab army from then on, the independence of the country was improved to some extent. The trend of multipolarity appears on guidelines in the political party of this period, its political influence is expanded gradually with deepening of the freedom democracy reform too.Chapter five summarizes the political modernization of Jordan during this period.
