The Arab-Israeli conflict has been the focal point in the Middle-East for many years. On the basis of objective condition that the Arab-Israeli conflict provides, Iran has exerted great influence on the conflict, though it isn't the battle front in this area. It is hoped that through this influence Iran can achieve its benefits on politics, security, etc. Iran's interventing in Arab-Israeli conflict has great influence on itself as well as on the situation of the Middle-Easten and the intertional relations. Meanwhile, the standpoint which Iran takes on the conflict is not fixed and unalterable, which can be considered as a miniature of Iranian diplomacy. It is also a typical case in discussing how Iran develops and adjusts its diplomacy under the theocracy.Based on the chronological order, this thesis consists of six chapters and makes an initial analysis on the relationship between Iran and the Arab-Israeli conflict. The first chapter elaborates the reasons of chosing this topic, on which expounds the literature review both at home and abroad.Chapter two gives a brief review on the Arab-Israeli conflict, and then respectively elaborates the different standpoints Pahlavi dynasty and the Islamic Republic of Iran take to the problem of conflict. The factors that cause the changes are discussed in this chapter, too.In the third chapter, the author attempts to discuss about the many trials the Iranian viewpoints receive during the Arab-Israeli War, which support Islamic countries but oppose Israel. First of all, the point has been attacked by the reality. Aiming for defeating Iran, most Arab countries stood at Iraq's side and applied many assistance to it, which made Iran feel very embarrassed in the war. Iran had to object to Israel vocally, while it has accepted Israel's help in private. In addition, Iran took the beneficial chance and created close relationship with Hezbollah after Israel invading Lebanon in 1982, which played a significant role in the influence of Iran on the Arab-Israeli conflict. In the fourth chapter, this thesis mainly focuses on the diplomacy that Iran took after Iran-Iraq War and the function of the Arab-Israeli conflict. After the war, the most prominent feature of Iran's diplomacy is that it has gradually turned to be pragmatism from radicalism. Iran has developed friendly relationships with adjacent Arab and Western European countries while has opposed Israel and the US at the same time. The appearance of Iran nuclear crisis has brought tremendous external pressure to Iran itself. Under such circumstances, the Arab-Israeli conflict is quite significant for Iran, which helps to recreate better international image of Iran, to mitigate the tension with Arab countries, to cope with the problems such as the isolation from Israel, and to relieve the stress caused by the nuclear crisis, etc.Chapter five describes the development of the Middle East peace process and Iran's opposition to the process in which the US leads a dominant position. It also analysizes the negative influence that Iran does to the progress of the Middle East peace process.Chapter six summarizes the whole thesis and explains the objective factors why iran could influence the Arab-Israeli conflict and the purposes, consequences and influence of iran's intervention in the Arab-Israeli conflict.
