Study Of Marxist World History Theory

Engels said in "To Sambat,Werner" that Marxism is not a doctrine of the entire world view, but a method. It is not to provide ready-made dogma, but rather a starting point for further study and research for the using of this method. Marx's world history theory is an important component of historical materialism, and it is also an important methodology by which we are aware and grasp of the historical development in the modern times. Marx's world history theory was proposed as an important doctrine in the middle of 1940s. However, in the past long period, the theory has not been paid more attention. Since the 20th century, economic globalization, the practice of the world socialist movement and particularly the Chinese contemporary practice of socialism made the intrinsic significance of this theory growing prominence.The paper is made basic theory of historical materialism as a guide, based on the text and faced the reality. The purpose of this paper is to further study the basic meaning of Marxist world history theory, the track of theory formation, the logical structure on the base of text and to explain its contemporary significance. The paper is divided into four parts:Part One: It briefly states the source of Marxist world history theory on the base of historical materialism from Aristotle and Herodotus's simple world history ideas in ancient Greece to Kant and Herder's world history ideas in modern times especially including Hegel's.Part Two: The development process of Marxist world history theory in his life. Marx's thinking had not strayed from the road of world civilization, and his world history theory had gone through the process from spontaneous to conscious. It established practice as the cornerstone of historical materialism from the sublation on Hegelian world history theory. It covers the tracks of Marx's thinking from earlier to later and in accordance with the text and the historical fact it divided into five stages. The first stage is that Marx established his personal ambition when he was a student. The mainly representative was"the consideration on youth in the choice of occupation". The second stage is the budding period of Marxist world history theory. Marx got deepening understanding on the relationship of social relations and human's liberation. The mainly representative was his doctoral thesis named"The Difference Between the Democritean and Epicurean Philosophy of Nature". The study of world history theory was in accordance with the anatomizing of capitalist society, arguing the inevitability of communism and the free development of human being. The mainly representative is"Das Kapital". The fifth stage is the deepening period of Marxist world history theory. Marx explored how the eastern countries go on the socialist road on the background of world history. The mainly representative is"History Notes"and"Russia and the East Road Notes".Part Three: Intension of Marxist world history theory. On the base of the text and social background, it covers the parts of Marxist world history theory. There are six aspects: the conditions is geographical discovery; the motivation is the developed productivity and the general communion; the source is capital and capitalism; the flag is the world market; the contemporary form is globalization; the inevitable trend is communism and human's liberation.Part Four: Contemporary value of Marx's world history theory. It mainly considers from the theory conduct practice. It discusses that Marxist world history enriched and developed historical materialism and also discusses the significance of correct understanding of contemporary capitalism and Chinese characteristics socialism on today's background. Especially, studying Marxist world history theory is the significance of learning and practicing the concept of scientific development, persisting in reform and opening up, improving the reform and opening up and building a lasting-peace harmonious world.There is a phenomenon in systematic research of Marxist world history theory.
