The Historical Investigation Of Political Views Of Jiu San Society In The Period Of Republic Of China

Jiu San Society is a democratic party with glorious history. It was motivated under the unrest social situation of the later period of China's War of Resistance against Japan, and the primary stage of liberation war. It is initiated and formed by the high level intellectuals from Chongqing's science and technology, culture and education at that time. Jiu San Society, as a political body, which aiming for inheriting and developing spirit of the May 4th movement and pursuing science, continuously grew up under the support and care of Communist Party of China. It made distinct devotion in the independence of Chinese nation and people's liberation during democratic revolution period.This paper systematically listed and organized the evolution of political stand of Jiu San Society. After winning the War of Resistance, there coming a new stage for China—the general civil war period. Jiu San Society went through brewing, coming into being, and proclaiming its own proposition from 1944 to June 1946, right before the general breaking out of civil war. Opposing civil war while advocating peace, opposing dictatorship while advocating democracy, industrializing the country and modernizing the agriculture industry, opposing comprador capital by bureaucracy, promoting academic liberalization and educational popularization, and adhering to a balanced friendly independent foreign relationship development, are Jiu San Society's main propositions of that period. On one hand, these propositions kept up with the development of the times, filled public demand, and play a progressive and active role in history. On the other hand, there were some other inevitable onesidedness and fuzzification related to acknowledge, and limpness and tendency towards compromise in the practice of revolution.The period between June,1946 to September,1949 was a crucial moment for Kuomingtang-Communist Party relationship and a turning point of Jiushan Administration's political thoughts. With the further development of civil war, on one hand, Communist Party of China's policy and political course had great impact on Jiu San Society; on the other hand, with a deepen acknowledge of Kuomingtang's political nature, gradually seeing through the real purpose of America's mediating in civil war of China, Jiu San Society woke up the dream of depending on America, opposed Chiang Kai-shek and America, and accepted the new democratic revolutionary path of Communist Party. This Jiu San Society actively devoted itself in patriotic anti-imperialism movement and setting up the new China, opposed civil war, and fight against dictatorship.Jiu San Society's political thoughts revealed its political ideal and advantages. Members of the party made full use of its speciality in its practice and had been deeply affected by Communist Party from thought and action, and had gathered experience from multi-party system leaded by Communist Party of China. For the Jiushan Administration nowadays, all that mentioned above may possess directive significance in improving its own work, sticking to and developing the multi-party system, making itself a party participating in the management of state affairs of high quality.
