Following 9/11 attack, terrorism became a global issue in the field of international politics. So, it is important to get a clear understanding of the problem as one of the most significant topics in international security in recent times. It is true that we are living in a global world that is highly intersected and susceptible to violence that cross borders and can affect anyone or any region at any time, so is vital to pay attention to terrorism issue. Hence, is essential to look at terrorism issue in Afghanistan, for the reason that, it has a significant impact to the future of international security. Therefore, it is not only the United States fight as a main targeted, but China facing the problem of terrorism, separatism and extremism in Xinjiang Uyghurs Autonomous Region, also have interest in this issue. China as a rising power and a very influential state in the world politics is actively engaging other countries in Central Asian-Afghanistan, while adopting measures that are aimed at building trust and mutual respect. Since the reform period, China's diplomacy has changed from isolation to engagement, therefore, China established diplomatic relation with different countries in the world, more so Afghanistan.Despite the vast research on the matter, this research is entitled "Terrorism in Afghanistan and its Implications on China". The objective of this research was to examine two questions:first, 'What is China's interest in Afghanistan?'next'Can terrorism in Afghanistan threat China's Security?'To examine these questions, this research paper conducted a questionnaire survey in three universities in China, Fudan, Jilin and Xiamen University. The results yield that China has interest in bilateral economic and trade exchange cooperation, and also it is an important player in the rebuilding process of Afghanistan by investing in development projects. The Chinese investment in different project in Afghanistan significantly contributes to its economic improvement. This paper also argues that the problem of insecurity facing China is directly connected with terrorism, drug trafficking most notably in the boundary connecting Afghanistan-China. In fact, Xinjiang is of great important to the development of PRC, for the reason that its geographical position enables China to connect with the Central Asian nations, which is extremely important to China. In sum, this paper discovered that Afghanistan and China have the same interests and concerns, both countries are looking for economic, trade cooperation and also are trying to fight terrorism which poses a serious threat to them. The public opinions, collected through questionnaires, also revealed that China, and Afghanistan have common concerns and common interests. This paper recommends that, since China diplomacy has changed and China is playing a very important role in international community, security and economic issues, shoud be a priority for China development, stability and peace. In this view, this paper recommends that further attention should be put to ETIM as an organization recognized by Chinese Central Government, which cause security uncertainty to Chinese sovereignty.
