Analysis Of Singapore's Nationalism Idea And Authority Politics

Singapore had made remarkable achievements,and had been a model of modernization of developing countries since Singapore independed more than 50 years. That success in Singapore did not take the "economic development-political democracy" Western path of modernization, but adopted the authoritarian path. Path of political development in Singapore is a specific product under specific conditions, Singapore's path has a lot of limitations in the sense of the value of popularizing. But this model's nature of typical should be consideration. Therefore, the political path of authoritarian in Singapore has become the issue is worth studying. On the perspective of nationalism idea, this paper's view that nationalism idea fit deeply with the authoritarian state in the relationship of society and individuals, which is the ideological reason of Singapore's authoritarian system established. Singapore's authority politics has some features including one-party authoritarianism. The order and stability for which Singapore's nationalism idea and authority politics bring are the basic premise for achiving rapid economic growth and social development, and the economic development and structural changes in society become the foundation of the transformation of authoritarian system. The road of Singapore's nationalism idea and the authority politics not only enriched the general theory of political development but also the modernization of the developing countries can learn from the Singapore's road.
