On The Cultivation About The Understanding Of Modern Charity In The New Period Of China

Since national economy has been developed with a persistent and rapid growth, ideological and cultural progress has been constructed more and more deeply, the social management system has been further innovated, the standard of people's living has been better and better, developing act of charity has possessed economical, substantial, cultural and social foundation. But on the other hand, since Chinese charity is still at its primary stage as a whole, further strength and completion in the practice should be given to such fields as the understanding of charity, the scale of Philanthropy, charitable organization, the system of charitable contribution. As any social career is closely related to people's consciousness, developing and expanding the understanding of modern charity should be the first thing for the development of philanthropy.There are four parts in all in this essay. The first part introduced the concept of charity, the understanding of charity and its cultivation. The understanding of charity is the product of the interaction between subjective factors and objective factors. Its formation and development is the dialectical unitive process, which external factors and internal factors converse with each other. For its intension, the understanding of charity means the unification of psychological activities including charitable perception, charitable cognition, charitable emotion inclination, charitable motivation and charitable behavior intention. All these activities are under the condition that external environment provides many perceptual materials about charity for individuals. The understanding of charity possesses the character of willingness, expecting no reward and equality. For its individual meaning, the understanding of charity consists of the level of charitable perception, the level of charitable cognition, the level of charitable emotion inclination, the level of charitable motivation and the level of charitable behavior intention. All the levels have mainly the longitudinal and hierarchical relations.The second part elaborated the importance, the reality conditions and the frames of reference of the cultivation about the understanding of modern charity in the new period of China. The importance of the cultivation about the understanding of modern charity is:it is the spiritual path for China to trend towards the "Harmonious World", the internal driving force to construct the harmonious society, and it contributes to the improvement of personal moral state and the realization of self-value. In the new times, the cultivation about the understanding of modern charity has already had material, spiritual, policy, institutional and practical conditions. On the other hand, the frames of reference of the cultivation about the understanding involve the reasonable factors of foreign charitable culture, the advanced concepts in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and also the classical thoughts of Chinese traditional charitable culture.The third part summarized the status quo of Chinese people's understanding of modern charity, and analyzed the causes of its problems. In the new times, people's understanding of modern charity presents an upward and steady development trend in the mass, and youngsters are becoming the potential participants in charitable and public welfare activities. Furthermore, the problems that existing in people's understanding of modern charity are such as barrier cognition of Ministering to the strange, desire for thanksgiving return from aided people is still strong, understanding charity only as donating money and materials. The causes of these problems are closely related to the traditional political culture, concepts of communications, ideas of social salvation and the utilitarian value orientation in a market-economic environment, the insufficient formation mechanism and function of charitable organizations.The third part proposed some pieces of suggestion about the countermeasure for the cultivation about the understanding of modern charity in the new period of China. The basic principle of the cultivation about the understanding of modern charity is practicalization. And the two core principles are categorizing the objects and delaminating the contents of the cultivation. According to the five levels of the it, I put forward such opinions as broadening people's understanding of charity, giving correct guidance of their charitable ideas to people, arousing people's emotion to take an active part in charity activities, regulating people's motivation of participating charity, strengthening people's behavior intention in charity, building three-dimensional system of the cultivation about the understanding of modern charity. All the above-mentioned six sides involved the treatise about the countermeasuresAs far as I've mastered the materials which involved the cultivation about the understanding of modern charity in academic community at the present time, many researches started from the ethical value of charity itself to discuss the relative problems. However, since the topic I've tried to analyze in this paper refers to the problem of cultivation about understanding, we shouldn't only pay close attention to its exterior principles and requirements. We should ponder over as well as its interior law and growing points. I tried to integrate both the ethical value and educating value of charity in this paper, and put more emphases on its educating value to open discussion into the project "the cultivation about the understanding of modern charity in the new period of China"...
