On Lifelong Learning And All-Round Development Of Human Beings

The pursuit of all-around development of human beings is a subject in the history of human development, which has been studied for a long time but is still a new one.The research on the development of human beings has held an important position ever since the birth of Marxism. Human's history, especially in recent 100 years, indicates that the all-round development of man is not only a premise, but the ultimate goal of the all-round development of society. However, man's issue has long been neglected owing to the fact that development has been simply regarded as material accumulation and economic growth. Thereupon, the practical and theoretical values of man's all-round development is given prominence in the socialist modernization under the background of knowledge-based economy, and the research of it has become an inevitability. This is the absolute necessity in social development as well as the definite conclusion in reflection of the frame and mode of development.The all-around development of human beings is a process, a limitless developmental process. As for a great person, even if he is better than ordinary people in every aspect, he is not perfect, because he still has developing space. As for an inferior person, even if he has no good qualities, he can still become perfect by persistent learning. Thus, lifelong learning becomes the focal point of this thesis. Lifelong learning, lifelong education and learning society are three interrelated concepts. It was for the purpose of countering the narrow and closing traditional education that these three concepts came into being. The features of lifelong learning as the coverage of all the knowledge and the whole process from birth till death reflect its completely different style from former education. Reflections on the traditional education, make us deeply understand the advantages of lifelong learning.In the authour's opinion, the soul of the lifelong learning theory is to fufill the all-around development of human beings. To construct lifelong learning security mechanism is the responsibility and duty which the new times entrusts us, the profitable target and content of the harmonious society and the well-off society's constructing. And it is necessary to construct the security machanism of lifelong learning to promote the all-round implementation of lifelong learning thoery, and consequently make a firm step towards the all-around development of human beings.
