Marshal Liu Bocheng (Marshal Liu) is our party's proletarian revolutionist of the strong older generation, and a world famous military strategist. He is also the founder of People's Liberation Army, one of the founding fathers of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and an outstanding Marxist military theorist and military educator. In the long years of revolutionary war, he organized and commanded many big campaigns with profound knowledge under the leadership of the Party Central Committee and Chairman Mao. He not only got a lot of exploits in the battle, but also made outstanding theoretical contribution and formed a set of unique and valuable military theories. Liu's military educational thought is an important part of Mao Zedong Military Educational Thought, and also his own creative use of Mao Zedong Military Thought to solve educational problems of military practice, which reflects the objective law in the military field. The study of Liu's military educational thinking is of great practical significance for inheriting his valuable legacy of military theory, for the enriching and developing of Mao Zedong Thought, and for promoting our army's modernization construction.This article aims at the research and exploration of Liu's Military Educational Thought from the aspects of formation, main content, main characteristics and practical guiding importance to inherit his precious legacy of military theory, to enrich and develop Mao Zedong Thought, and to promote the modernization of our army construction.Part I Forming of Liu's Military Educational ThoughtThe research of this part is mainly on the forming basis and process of Liu's Military Educational Thought. The theoretical basis is the Marxist ideology, critical succession of the historical and worldwide military educational theories and the Mao Zedong Military Educational Thought. The practical base is the 20 years'military educational experience. The forming process is divided into two stages—before and after the founding of PRC. During this process, Liu formed the People-teachers, normalization, managing the schools after firstly managing the scholarly research and people-oriented military educational ideology.Part II Main Content of Liu's Military Educational ThoughtThe research of this part is mainly that the military education should be"People-teachers", great efforts should be devoted to strengthen military regularization education in military academies, scholarly research should be managed with principles and methods,"People-teachers"should be emphasized. People-teachers means learning from enemy, learning from friends. Strengthening the regularization of military academies means making clear of the training objectives, teaching content and methods, and teaching principles and systems of the military academies; scholarly principles and methods mean that scholarly research requires the "common study of politics, individual professional proficiency, a modest politicians and professional experts"; scholarly principles should be "learning the style of Marxism-Leninism in the way of Marxism-Leninism," the scholarly methods should be"restricting the abundance". People-oriented means selecting a teacher strictly, emphasizing training and caring for faculty, fully mobilizing the enthusiasm and creativity of research staff, and caring them in many ways.Part III Main Features of Liu's Military Educational ThoughtLiu's Military Educational Thought has four characteristics—practical, scientific, creative and national. The Thought is practical because the Thought is closely related to major issues of all the Chinese revolutionary war, it is a theoretical summary for the practical experience of Chinese revolutionary war, and it is also for the practice of service. The Thought is scientific because it is with firm Marxist principles, it tries to analyze and research issues from the standpoint of Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Military Educational Thought. The thought is creative because Liu scientificly inherited Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought and created the first classic military institution in China after the founding of PRC with considering the present status of Chinese army's construction and consulting Soviet and other foreign armies'successful experience in military education which shows that he is a pioneer of modern military education. The thought is national because the language is popular and the performance is national.Part IV Practical Guiding Significance of Liu's Military Educational ThoughtPractical guiding significance of Liu's Military Educational Thought is that it reveals the basic law of military education and shows a clear direction for the military education and training in the new period ; it stresses the importance of military theory research and guides the work of a new period of military education and training with advanced military theories; it emphasizes rigorous training, results of military education and training, and improvement of the overall quality of military personnel, which put forward specific requirements for military education in the new period.
