During China's feudal society with the natural economy, "people-orientedness" had long been a fundamental governing strategy that the ruling class applied to maintain their domination. With the development of the society, the ideological connotation of "people-orientedness" became increasingly rich. However, the nature of the feudalism has determined the fact that the "people-orientedness", which had existed for thousands of years in Chinese society, was only the approach employed by the ruling class to maintain their domination and it was unlikely for the great mass of people to get rid of their fate of being oppressed, exploited and slaved. In 1949, the Communist Party of China led and guided the great mass to overthrow feudalism and established the people's democratic dictatorship. The strategy of ingrained "people-orientedness" could not acclimate the request of the society. Specifically, since the establishment of the socialist market economic system, "human-orientedness" has become an urgent ruling philosophy and guiding ideology for Communist Party in the new era.The thinking of "Human-orientedness" has undergone a long period of time in the West. Based on the adoption of western humanistic theory in a critical way, Marx and Engels formed the humanism thought of Marx. The Marx's humanism thought mainly includes the conception of human and the dominative role that people play, considering human being's ultimate goal to have free development. This thought has been the most important and basic guiding principle for China to build a socialist and harmonious society, to practice the concept of scientific development, to promote the social fairness and justice, and to ensure the healthy operation of the socialist market economy. The Communist Party of China has timely considered the "human-orientedness" as the governing philosophy and principle for the new era. This thought also serves as the core of the concept of scientific development as well as the accomplishment of the ultimate mission of establishing a harmonious society. It fully demonstrates that the Communist Party of China has a pragmatic spirit of integrating the essence of the Marxist principles with the Chinese practice and adhered to the road of Marxism with Chinese characteristics. Meanwhile, the "human-orientedness" is also essential in guiding the development of China to a new phase and taking the road to political and democratic development with Chinese characteristics resolutely. It symbolizes the Chinese Community Party can always advance along with the times. In short, the ideological transition of Chinese society from "people-orientedness" to "human-orientedness" not only indicates the Chinese Communist Party's innovation and keeping pace with the times, the major achievements of Marxism with Chinese characteristics, but also is the inevitable result and requirement of Chinese social development. It promotes the development of Chinese society, and is the most important driving force to promote the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation. Therefore, the ideological transition of Chinese society from "people-orientedness" to "human-orientedness" has great theoretical and practical significances.
