| The term "national spirit" earliest appeared in the West, firstly brought forward by the famous German scholar Herder. Since the end of the last century, Chinese academia have discussed about the national issues for several times. In a word, national spirit falls into the category of spiritual civilization, which is opposed to material civilization. It is a positive mental state, a character accepted and obeyed by the public, and it is the essence and soul of national culture. national spirit does not isolatedly, one-widely exist, it closely connected with traditional culture, they are interrelated and inseparable. It penetrates into every aspect of the fine cultural heritage of our nation with Chinese traditional culture as carrier, and tries to achieve the goal of promoting our national spirit by means of spreading the fine culture.The report of sixteenth congress of Chinese Communist Party transformed the consistently used parlance "carry forward the national spirit" into "carry forward and cultivate the national spirit". The newly-added word "cultivate" marked that our Party's understanding of national spirit has entered a brand-new state. College students are the future of motherland and nation. They are the pioneers of carrying forward the national spirit, whose statements and actions would lead the awakening of the whole national consciousness. carrying forward the national spirit are consistently advocated by the moral education in schools,which is in line with both social development and laws of students'maturation. The current students are intellectually active, but their political theoretical foundation are relatively weak. In face of collision of the various cultural stores in the world, the matter of undergraduates'national spirit has become more and more serious. thus, it is an important and urgent task to carry out the national spirit cultivation among college students, which has great and far-reaching significance undoubtedly.Why should we and how to cultivate the College students'national spirit under the traditional culture is a practical issue before us. This article will dissertate these issues one by one. It is divided into six parts:The first part is introduction. The introduction mainly introduces the present domestic and international research condition of this project, establishes the research aim and content, and explains its search meaning.The second part discusses mainly the connotation and relationship between Chinese traditional culture and Chinese national spirit cultivation, and respectively the Chinese traditional culture,national spirit and connotation of Chinese national spirit. traditional culture and national spirit complement and link closely to each other. Chinese traditional culture is the support of Chinese national spirit, and Chinese national spirit is embodied in Chinese traditional culture. Cultivating the Chinese national spirit is an important way of inheriting Chinese traditional culture.The third part is the elaboration specific to the importance of current undergraduates'national spirit cultivation. The mental condition of current undergraduates to certain degree determines the survival and future of Chinese Ethnic Peoples. Therefore, it is an important and urgent task to carry out the national spirit cultivation among college studentsThe forth part is the deep analysis of the present condition and reason of current undergraduates'national spirit cultivation from the aspects of school, family and society.The fifth part analyses and takes relevant measures of the present condition and reason of current undergraduates'national spirit cultivation based on the forth part. This part is the key point of the article.The sixth part is the conclusion. It discusses the value of cultivating the national spirit for current undergraduates, points the prospects of the study of this project, and aims at putting the current undergraduates'national spirit cultivation steadily under the background of Chinese traditional culture.
