The Study Of China Men's Basketball Aggressive Defense Tactics

What the China Men's National Basketball Team (CMBT) in the international competitions has achieved is not very satisfying, even in a backward and embarrassing edge. The problem CMBT exposed is from many aspects. Therefore, this thesis, on the basis of the existed studies, will analyze through the current major international basketball games (the data of China-America Men's Basketball Match in 28th,29th Olympic Games). The purpose of the thesis is to analyze the relationship of aggressive defense ability and defensive quality between CMBT and the US'in the aspects of defending the player with the ball, defending players without the ball and the applying of defensive tactics, and combined with expert interview to summarize the characteristics of aggressive defense tactics and existing problems in Chinese men's basketball and to provide relevant solutions. Thus, it may provide theoretical reference in improving the skills and tactics of Chinese basketball in order to cultivate the Chinese basketball player reserve and to promote the basketball development in China.The results are as follows:1. A certain gap exists in the level of aggressive defense tactics between Chinese teams and powerful teams worldwide. The skills and tactics also need improving. There is a significant gap in defending ability between CMBT and the USA team, especially in the aspects of steals, blocks and fouls. The overall collaborative capacity of the defensive tactics is weak, which was shown in defense initiative, strength and inefficient destruction.2. CMBT's weaknesses appeared in excessively relying on the centre. Some players improved increasingly in one-to-one technical confrontation. However, they presented too many turnovers which made the centre not play efficiently in the game due to inefficient capacity of other positions and the lack of co-operation and protection.3. The other party could always catch the outside shots due to the slow offense and defense conversion, slow rotary transposition and inactive filling-in. The data of steals showed the weakness of defensive attacking that CMBT had. The other party scored frequently by taking the opportunity that CMBT was not good at the pass-and-catch skills and give-and-go skills under the circumstance of in-half-court press.Through statistical analysis, the direction has been drawn in improving aggressive defense tactics for Chinese men's basketball as follows:1. Strengthen defense.'Defense first' should be always the top consideration and implementation in selecting and training players, and the coach as well. The study should focus on improving the defense ability of the whole team's collaboration, therefore, to fill the gap of the inadequacy of individuals'defense capability. 2. Strengthen the aggressive defense awareness. The training should focus on on-court observation and analysis ability, improve lineup coordination and tactic skills, and train and develop a centre to connect inside and outside.Improve players'physical strength and confrontation. The training on physical attributes mainly focuses on speed, strength and reactive speed. The other focus should particularly emphasize the training, such as promptness, stamina, spring, flexibility and coordination.
