Hosting Large-scale Sports Events will bring obvious "eyeballs effect". It will bring special advantages in the communications of the cities which host the sports events when people focus on the sports events. It plays a positive role for the communications of city image. In the process of modernization, it is necessary for governments to gain better power to developing cities.The dissertation focuses on Shanghai. Acquainting the present state on how do Large-scale Sports Events work for the communications of city image, analyzing the multi-effects on creation of city image through sports events by the scientific research method of the sports sociology, the dissertation will discuss the way to communicate Shanghai City Image by sports events. The analysis subjects of the dissertation are Large-scale Sports Events and Shanghai City Image. By the form of social investigations, interviews and questionnaires, it focuses on analyzing the effects of current Shanghai Large-scale Sports Events on city image in different views, knowing the present state, different features and current problems, further to figure out the best method to communicate city image by hosting sports events in future. Also, in the process of city internationalizing, it discusses the positive effects on Shanghai City Image communications by hosting of sports events. To seize more attention from citizens on sports events and take part in sports events, the sports events will do the contributions to creating Shanghai City Image while richening the culture life. After the analysis, the results of the dissertation are expected to be the reference for Shanghai Municipal Government to explore how to communicate Shanghai City Image by Large-scale Sports Events.The main contents of the dissertation are five chapters and three major parts.Chapter One, Two and Three will be the first part which defines the research subject and mentions the purpose and the meaning of the research, involving the content of Shanghai Large-scale Sports Events and Shanghai City Image combined with the present study results in domestic and abroad.Chapter Four, as the Part Two, analyzing the subjects in three aspects:A. The present state and information of Shanghai Large-scale Sports Events. B. The present state and position of Shanghai City Image with the interactive relation. C. Combining the former two subjects defines the communications of Shanghai City Image and the key information, effects on city image communications. Specially, it points out the advantages and the problems that Shanghai communicates the city image by sports events.Chapter Five, as the Part Three, it draws the conclusion that Large-scale Sports Events play a unique role in the communications of Shanghai City Image. A. It will improve the hardware for Shanghai which is the main subject of city image. B. It will provide a better spiritual life for Shanghai citizens, which will leave good impressions for the communications targets. C. It will gain more attentions from worldwide media and expand the communications effects of Shanghai City Image. D.
