English teaching aims and means have taken profound change in the Age of information fast developing, international nations frequently interacting, internet and English playing an important role. The promotion of the students'comprehensive abilities including English listening ability and cross-cultural communicative competence is a vulnerable segment, so avoiding the mute English, improving cross-cultural communicative competence and solving the practical problem have become the focus of education in quality-oriented education. Therefore, it is necessary to explore NBLT (network-based language teaching) applied to English listening.Krashen's Affective Filter Hypothesis and Vygotsky's socio-cultural theories are applied to NBLT. Internet has the advantage of providing authentic language environment. Employing the internet to English listening class can promote comprehensive abilities which keep up with the times.This thesis mainly talks about the application of internet to English listening class and its underlying theories. From a tentative perspective, the author embraces http://voa.hjenglish.com/as listening material. Through the tests, interview and questionnaires to analyze the feedbacks of the application of internet to English listening class and traditional listening class gives implication for English listening education in the future.
