| In the recent years, as a famous primary school in China which is distinctive in English teaching where the author works, the Primary School Attached to Northeast Normal University began to invite foreign teachers to participate in the English teaching. As a Chinese teacher of English with more than ten years of teaching experience, the author also worked as a teaching assistant of the foreign teacher. In the process, the author was very concerned about the foreign teacher's teaching, and through observation, she found various problems when the foreign teacher did the teaching alone, such as not focusing on the teaching objectives, the lack of systematic instruction, loose classroom organization with no enough practice, etc. All the above show that the role of the foreign teacher has not been fully exploited. After a large number of studies and research of the previous results, the author takes the co-teaching approach between the Chinese and foreign teachers in the universities as reference, and boldly put forward the hypothesis that the way of co-teaching may also work in primary school English teaching. Therefore, according to the school's specific situation, the author did an action research for 8 weeks, and verified this hypothesis. In the action research, the author mainly worked in two aspects:cooperative lesson preparation and co-teaching in class, which achieved preliminary results. The thesis consists of six parts. The first part proposes the problem, which mainly analyses and describes the main problems found in the current foreign teachers'teaching, it also makes the assumption and determines the study according to preliminary investigation and analysis. The second part is the literature review. It has two main aspects: one is about the history of cooperation and the form, classification and process of teachers' interaction in the cooperation; the second is the status and the problems exist in the cooperative teaching and research of foreign and Chinese English teacher in China. Based on these, the third part proposes the design of the action research, including the objectives need to address in the action programs, the tools and the action programs, this part also describes the specific implementation with the theoretical proof of the action. The fourth part are the real effects. The effects are examined through data obtained by interviews and performance comparisons, thus draws the conclusion of this action research. The fifth part is the reflection and revelation, which reviews the process of the research and summarizes the significance of the research and problems exist. Part Six is the concluding remarks. |
