Reading is the base that students master the language knowledge and improve their language proficiency. It is also a major source of access to information. Especially for second language learners, due to the limitations, reading is the main way to access to information and cultivate a sense of the phrase. Only under the premise of improving reading ability, people can improve the overall use of language effectively. English reading is not only the process of language learning, but also of information exchange. The cultivation of English reading ability is to step up the cultivation of students'discourse comprehension. Only under the premise of understanding in discourse, teachers can guide and train students'English communication ability from oral and writing aspects. The author has been thinking about how to help students strengthen understanding of text materials, and how to more effectively improve their English reading ability. After reading a lot of literatures about English reading teaching and drawing on relative theories, the author proposes to use the method of discourse analysis to guide English reading, and start the study.First, this paper emphasizes the importance of junior secondary English reading, introduces the reading situation and the problems; then introduces the meaning of discourse and discourse analysis, theoretical research on reading, research situations of discourse analysis in reading and introduces the specific contents of discourse analysis. After the literature review, expand the action research, using discourse analysis to guide junior high school English reading teaching. The author makes action plans and defines research purposes and objects. Before the action, the author had a questionnaire survey and reading test. Through macro and micro aspects, the author investigates how to enhance the students'English reading level by the use of discourse analysis. At the same time, the author gives a detailed description of how to use it to guide English reading teaching. This method emphasizes that students are the center, and the teacher leads them. Through the analysis of textual materials'genre, text structure, the linkages between paragraphs, let students grasp subject of discourse material from the whole. The author then shows a teaching case to the instance of the model of discourse analysis and its impact on the thinking of students to read. And finally through the study of the reading test and a questionnaire, the author wants to confirm the validity of the method. In this paper the author also emphasizes that cultivating the reading strategies will commonly help to improve middle school students'English reading ability, which is also the innovation of this paper.The author hopes that through this practical research, she can confirm the validity of discourse analysis theory in JEFC reading comprehension. The author also hopes that the method can significantly improve the effectiveness of classroom teaching of English texts so that it can effectively improve the junior high school English reading level, so as to better promote the improvement of their overall English capacity. And thus students can get better marks in the junior high school graduation exams. The author also hopes it can lay a good foundation for students'long-term development. University of discourse analysis is within the scope of the research more, but the study involved secondary school is within less. And such research in junior high school reading teaching field are even scarcer. The discourse analysis theory into English reading teaching, especially in high grades has very practical significance. This is just a preliminary discussion of how to use discourse analysis to the teaching of junior high school English reading, hoping to have a positive significance for teaching. In this regard, I will also need to have deeper and more comprehensive study.
