Along with the gradually expansion of recruitment and the advancement of mass higher education in China,the sliding phenomenon of institutions' quality caused by the short of educational resource arouses the public more extensive concern. How to assess institutions' quality scientifically transfer higher education from exterior system changes to interior quality promotion, which is currently,particularly for 21 century, the most important problem for higher education in China. While faculty-student interaction acting as the basic of all educational activities should be taken much more attention in our country.This paper leads into American NSSE to launch an investigation.NSSE is a questionnaire focusing on the student's behaviour and college's effective educational practice of four-years undergraduate college nationally.Considering study is a dynamic,more dimensional social activity, only assessing student's final achievement to master the whole content of college education is not enough.Evaluating the process of study is another visual angle for college.In order to quantizing the time and energy the student's devote to the effective educational activities,there are five benchmarks for comparing between colleges. These five benchmarks are level of academic challenge, active and collaborative learning, student--faculty interaction, enriching educational experiences and supportive campus environment. NSSE has its deep theoretical basis. In the past 30 years, American scholars' related researches on measuring and promoting outcomes of undergraduate education lay solid foundation for NSSE theory, which gradually mature and enrich the research of relativity of student's experience and educational quality. Among them, there are six classic theories pay more important role for forming NSSE.Basing on NSSE-China survey and SPSS, this paper taking H college for example, concretely analyse the benchmark of faculty-student interaction from three aspects which are comparing with peer colleges, relative educational segment and relativity of student's achievement and faculty-student interaction.Though the research, the author claims that the condition of faculty-student interaction in H college locates the medium level of the national undergraduate college, but the total score is not high.There are three main reasons. Firstly, student's learning motive, personality and consciousness of participating interactions effect faculty-student interaction. Secondly, Faculty's comprehension of teaching idea and excessive invest of scientific research impact faculty-student interaction. Lastly, College couldn't pay much attention on faculty-student interaction. On this foundation, the paper proposes a counterplan suggestion from teacher, student and college three aspects. Through research and analysis, Hoping to provide a new angle for assessing the quality of higher education, and more importantly to realize and understand the application of NSSE.
