Modern teaching theory think that the essence of teaching is student-teacher interaction.The effectiveness of student-faculty interaction directly affects the teaching quality and teaching efficiency. With enrollment expansion of colleges and universities, our country enters into the period of mass higher education and numerous students enter colleges and universities.Colleges and Universities can’t avoid adopting large-class teaching model, teachers can not effectively interact with students. It not conducive to cultivation of talents.In recent years, colleges and universities recognize the malpractice of using large-class teaching, and begin to reform undergraduate teaching quality.Therefore some colleges and universities apply to small class teaching to improve student-faculty interaction.So, it is very significance to look into the status quo of student-faculty interaction in small classes teaching situation.In this study, taking L University school of A for example, use CCSS questionnaire prepared by Tsinghua University(2015 edition) as a research tool and conduct empirical research by utilizing mixed methods. Firstly on the basis of data collected,the paper analyze the overall level of student-faculty interaction of school of A, and compare it with L university and peer colleges. Secondly, the paper analyze the correlation between the level of student-faculty interaction and class size. Ultimately, the paper discuss on the level of student-faculty interaction influence the teaching process.The research results as follows:(1) The school of A has a significant advantage compared to L University and “Project 985” universities’ norm in the level of student-teachestudent-faculty interaction.(2) students’ educational factors have greater influence on student-teacher interaction than students’ ascription factors.(3) By reducing class sizes, the level of student-faculty interaction cher interaction is improved.(4) Students’ learnability interaction achieve higher score than students of social interaction.(5) The level of student-faculty interaction is affected by the strict requirements of teachers,students’ learning behavior and school support environment.(6) Students who do well in student-faculty interaction regularly apply the deep learning strategies and have a higher level of effective teaching practice.(7) Teachers play a leading role in the promotion of student-teacher interaction.Based on the acquiring a useful experience of school of A,this paper proposes recommendations to interaction enhance the student-faculty interaction interaction.
