Graduate education as the highest level of higher education, it's one of the important position for a country, and also a important part of country's high-level human capital.The structure of postgraduate education is the inner constitute of postgraduate education, and graduate education is the external manifestations of the structure, the relationship between them is function and structure. Adjust the structure of graduate education is the premise of deepening graduate education reform and improve quality of graduate education. For Chongqing, the higher education has achieved tremendous successes by economic zone directly under the rapid development. However, the development of higher education compared to the developed provinces and cities there are still have large gaps, especially the weak of graduate education, makes the quantity and quality of high-level personnel do not match with the economic and social development.So, starting from the structure of postgraduate education to analyze the current status and issues of graduate education in Chongqing and resolve is the focus of this paper.The main methods of this paper are literature and comparative law, and use the statistical methods for a direct show the present situation of Chongqing' graduate education. The paper first explains the relevant concepts of the structure of postgraduate education. The second part is the history of higher education and postgraduate education in Chongqing city, so we have the general understanding of the development of Chongqing' postgraduate education. The third part is from the level structure, types of structure and subject structure to analyze the current situation of postgraduate education in Chongqing. The fourth part is finding the problems of Chongqing's postgraduate education and the causes. The problems of level structure have two, the proportion between master and doctor is inappropriate, and High-level talents are not enough; The problems of types of structure first is the imbalance of academic degree and professional degree, second is the enrollment of professional degree must face many practical problems; The problems of subject structure one is the uncoordinated development of arts and sciences, another is the inconsistent subject structure and industrial structure.The causes of the problems are mainly about economic, university and the needs of market.
