As a public event-the connecting process of marital relationship fills with a variety of social relations. That is to say, gifts or gifts exchange in the wedding acts as a traditional and effective method to establish, maintain or strengthen the relationships between relatives, friends, neighbors, colleagues and so on.According to the relationships between sending and receiving gifts people, we can mainly divide the wedding gifts into three categories:The first category of wedding gifts happened between the bride and groom or their families, including bride price, dowry and others gifts; The second category of wedding gifts happened between the host and the guests including the ceremony money and the gifts return; The third category includes other forms of gifts in addition to the first and second types. In this study,l focus on the first and second type of wedding gifts and try my best to find the wedding gifts difference between urban and rural areas. Then I selected F City and S Village in the middle of Zhejiang Province as my main research objects. With the method of field survey, I attempt to analyze the wedding-giving differences between Chinese urban and rural areas because of the different economic levels, consumption patterns, social concepts backgrounds. Honestly I hope it may bring a new perspective to our traditional gifts studyFinally, the study shows two important points:First, on the view of marriage exchange, both urban and rural areas are gradually coming closely to the mode of property inheritance, which also reflects the family mode of parent-child core is changing inevitably to husband-wife core nowadays; Second, on the one hand, in the view of marriage payments motive, genetic and geographical gifts giving are the most important in the countryside which reflects the point of"differential patterns"in the rural acquaintances society; on the other hand, these kinds of business, teachers-students and friends gifts play important roles on the citizen's relationships keeping, which reflects the importance of the secondary level relationships in our city life.
