Correspondingly, the changes take place in marriage culture and patterns. The author especially will focus on the contents and functions of marriage consumption and the sources of change. The author selects a village of Henan Huangchuan as the case and interviews with village people to get the background information for substantial analysis. The author uses correlation theory, revolves the change situation and the characteristic of both men' family and women' family marriage consumption, promulgates the factors which influence marriage consumption in change.Trying to make up the shortage of theory of marriage custom, and the measurements and methodologies as well, constantly enrich rural marriage theoretical framework. This paper reads as follows:First, clarifies research aim and the theory signification of this paper, review domestic and foreign relevance literature, and point out the innovation spots. Second, illustrates the theory foundation, the core concept, content, the train of thought and the method of study. Third, introduces basic information of the research area and survey objects. Forth, analyses the changes which men and women' family marriage consumption in B village from 1953 to 2005. At first introduces the marriage consumption the main concept and the local words. Afterwards, separately launching from two aspects of groom's family and bride's family, the author has made the description analysis to their bride price and dowry as well as the expenditure of wedding banquet and marriage room. The groom's family marriage expense form has mainly experienced transition process from the material object to the cash form. The marriage consumption vicissitude of the bride's family, does not like bride price changing to be fierce, but it also has grown out of nothing, from few to many in kind transformation. Through analysis the change of newlyweds in the marriage consumption plays a role, proves the relevant theory of marriage payments, and points out the shortcoming in reality. Fifth, analyzes the factors that effect the change of marriage consumption, including economy, family, culture and policy aspects. Conclusion: The increase of marriage consumption is due to the development of economy, politics, culture and new forms of bride price and dowry, which is helpful to organize a family for young couple. Obviously, it is a strategic choice for people to withstand the venture and unstable factors in their social life. The author predicts the trend of marriage consumption.
