Folk art is drawing more and more attention because of its own specific nationality and culture. Folk art presents many different beautiful shapes during the World Expo 2010 and shows Chinese's culture to the world. People of noble aspirations, such as Mr. Feng Jicai, agree that education plays an important role in inheriting and developing the folk art. China is advocating the education of folk art and many schools in China have introduced the folk art in primary and secondary schools, and have good effect to some extension.As "Folk Art" is a new noun, which don't appear until 21th century, its meaning isn't very clearly. Therefore, the first chapter of this thesis will explore the definition of folk art based on the literature. This chapter will primarily introduce some educational research on folk art based on three types of the literature.The second chapter will focus on two representative activities--"Dandelion action" and "folk art into the classroom." This chapter will generally introduce these two activities and analyze the content, method and evaluation of the teaching by arranging the lesson plan to find out the problem. To make clear the current situation of the education of folk art, author investigates the education of folk art of Shanghai from two different respects-teachers and students by face-to-face interview and questionnaire survey, in the hope of finding out an advanced teaching method and strategic, so that find out effective solution and method of education about folk art.The third chapter will analyze and conclude the successful sample cases about education of folk art. A series of lesson plans are designed, and then perfect and improve them on the basis of daily teaching to sum up the effectiveness and shortcomings.Finally, overview this research, summarizes the problems encountered in this study and look into the future of the development of folk art teaching.
