Content analysis as a method in research is using in social sciences, such as Communication Science and sociology. However, this method is in its beginning stage in education research. Contend analysis involve the character of the qualitative and quantitative, so it can transform the qualitative information into quantitative data, and the result that come from content analysis had scientific, feasibility and repeatability. To better understand content analysis, the thesis will introduce the basic concept and operation procedure, and then make a study on Chinese composition in using content analysis.The analysis objects of this thesis are all 210 compositions written by 35 students. The analysis category and analysis element will be established in the factor analysis theory to understand the students' present situation in writing ability. The study shows that the most students meet the requirement in the writing subject. In the respect of writing structure, the beginning will be start in terse and lively language, and end in a summary. The paragraphs have a set form, but the detailed and brief of the composition satisfy standards of grading in writing. In the aspect of language expression ability, there are some mistakes in word, punctuation and sentence. And the students need to learn Chinese rhetoric. In the aspect of aesthetic faculties, the students'ability of handwriting and neatness relate to their personal habits.The present situation of students' writing ability is showed by content analysis. The results are intuitive and credible. To improve the teaching and advance the students'writing ability, the writer gives some suggestions. Firstly, the teacher should give the students a positive demand, and train the students according a plan. And then, the teacher should teach in classroom practice to improve the ability of students'writing structure. And the teacher should improve students'language express ability and train the students'Aesthetic Consciousness in writing practice.
