The object of this research is to provide evidence for the clinical application of Imagery Communication Psychotherapy to middle school students'problem of Internet addiction (IA), hoping to contribute to the treatment of adolescents'pathological Internet use as well as developing the use of Imagery Communication psychotherapy. The method adopted is mainly quantitative with part of work being qualitative. While most quantitative data is collected and processed directly, the design of'Riding-a-horse imagery' is mainly qualitative work and data from the imagery is encoded first. The entire research consists of three major parts, respectively focusing on veryfying the relationship between the subjects' Internet addiction degree and their locus of control, designing a 'Riding-a-horse imagery' which could reflect the locus of control, and as the key task of the whole work, exploring the relationship between the subjects''Riding-a-horse imagery' and their degree of IA.As the results reveal, the research has proved the correlationship between the'Riding-a-horse imagery' and the degree of IA. Given the results that'Riding-a-horse imagery' could reflect locus of control to some degree and that locus of control may somehow affect the degree of IA, the author conclude that by communicating with the client, the'Riding-a-horse imagery' could be applied to adjust the client's locus of control, especially the external inclination of control, then to improve his or her whole personality and get relevant factors of IA touched and changed. In this way, the client's degree of IA could be reduced and use of Internet could be optimized. The ultimate conclusion of the research is that there is correlationship between the subjects' 'Riding-a-horse imagery' and their degree of IA, and thus the Imagery Communication Psychotherapy could be tried in clinical work with middle school students'IA problems. Finally, this research's innovation lies in proposing an assumption of applying Imagery Communication Psychotherapy to middle school students'IA problems, and to develop the evidence and reference for its realization.
