The higher vocational education's character and target of talented person cultivating decide that part-time faculty is the important part of higher vocational education teaching staff construction, especially double-quality teaching staff construction. And it is an important measure to solve the shortage of vocational college teachers and make up for practice teaching weak links and training needs of the community applied talents. American Community College is one of the most successful model of higher vocational education around the world. The century experience of employ part-time faculty in American Community College is worth our learning,and it's good for China's higher vocational education teaching staff construction.In this paper, the research object is the part-time faculty in American Community College. Through the collection, collation and analysis of relevant literature of the part-time faculty in American ommunity college, take the literature analysis and historical method as the main research methods. This article takes the historical development process of the part-time faculty in American community college as the study beginning. Through the analysis the current situation of part-time faculty staff in American Community Colleges, summarize the features and experience part-time faculty construction in American Community Colleges, and give suggestions for part-time faculty construction on higher vocational education in China.In addition to introduction and conclusion, this paper is divided into four parts:The first part of the paper detailed the history of the part-time faculty construction in American Community College during three history periods, besides the formation, development, and improvement of the part-time faculty construction in American Community College.The second part of the paper analysis the size, structure and management of the part-time faculty in American Community College:the scale of the part-time faculty is enormous, and the number of the part-time faculty has reached the total number of community colleges teachers in two-thirds, and the culture level of the part-time faculty in American community college is high, the management is scientific.The third part of the paper summarizes the characteristics of the part-time faculty construction in American community college, on the basis of the second part, under the strong policy in the United States, the part-time teachers' access standard is very strict, the management is practices, and the sources of the part-time faculty is extensive. In addition, the United States has formed a long-term mechanism on the part-time faculty construction in community college.The fourth part of the paper is on the basis of the above discussion for the American Community Colleges part-time teachers in the history, present situation and characteristics, gives suggestions for the part-time faculty constructionon in higher vocational education of China.
