Textbook is the carrier of course, Sino-foreign research on textbooks plays an important role in the new curriculum reform. To discuss the cornerstone of math in middle school-function, I selected two math textbooks in high school, including the new standard math textbook (A version) of People's Education Press and the textbook in Australia's IBID Press for IBDP high-lever math course. After introduction of IBDP mathematics of high level course, research on math textbooks and function of middle school teaching contents, I determined the research method, the goal and significance.This paper first introduced the arrangement system and teaching content of two textbooks, and summed up their respective features:(1) The PEP textbook reflects integrated curriculum thoughts, balances both students and disciplines, intimately connected to life practice, pays attention to problem solving consciousness. (2) The IBID textbook provides detailed lecture content, coordinates the basis and developmental, emphasizes the use of information technology, highlights the mathematical inner beauty.Then, the research of the function had three aspects:(1) The macro level, compared the two sets of curriculum standard on the content of the function, found IBDP curriculum standard spend more time on the study of the function, and in Chinese curriculum standard, the learning objectives and requirements are more clearly. For the specific course contents, two sets of curriculum standards are quite different. (2)The breadth and depth level, by statistics knowledge points, we known the breadth of the PEP textbook was 36, and the IBID textbook was 41. We could say that the breadth of the IBID textbook was slightly larger than the PEP textbook. Then used the abstract analysis method to compare the two sets of textbooks, we could see that the IBID textbook emphasized on the image of function and the PEP textbook focused on the nature of function. The reasons for the difference between the two sets of textbooks were the selection of teaching material in the function, the information technology, and the function orientation. (3) The micro level, analyzed several typical knowledge, for the same parts of the concept, I chosen the concept of function, logarithmic, equation root and the zero point of function, for unique content, The PEP textbook chosen the nature of function, and IBID textbook chosen the image of function reciprocal.Finally, I gave some suggestions on the teaching of function:(1) focus on the analysis of function concept; (2) highlight the importance of the function image; (3) add and adjust the appropriate content.
