Since the education reform in the middle school has been a hot topic, given the issuing of the new curriculum, the new, advanced teaching approaches have been given a lot of attention. As for the middle school English teaching, it has always been a tough part for both the English teachers and educators. More and more educational experts have been studying the most appropriate and executable method for middle school English teaching.As for this thesis, the author tries to do some research on the analysis of using the participatory approach in middle school English class. The objectives of this thesis are listed as follows:1. try to test whether the participatory approach is executable in middle school English class.2. try to prove that the participatory approach could enhance and foster the students'required language abilities like listening, speaking, reading and writing in English class.As for the research methods of this thesis, these could be:using SPSS to analyze the experiment the author did during her teaching practice:distributing and analyzing the questionnaires of the teachers in the author's practice school and in Zhen'an county; reading a lot of reference books to absorb and sort out the other experts'theories concerning with the participatory approach in middle school English teaching, so on and so forth.From the author's experiment and analysis on this issue, the results show that:the participatory approach, as a comparatively new and advanced teaching method, could be carried on in middle school English class; and this new advanced method does help to enhance the students'language abilities which are required in the new curriculum; through the author's experiment, the students were doing much better than before in their monthly English exam due to this method. From a series of experiments and analysis, a conclusion could be drawn:the participatory approach could be applied in middle school English class, and if it is used appropriately, it could be a big help to middle school English teaching. Although some disadvantages and obstacles still exist in applying this new teaching method, it is believed this has a bright future.
