Having gathered numerous top-ranking universities, America is one of the countries that have the most developed higher education in the world today. And the reason for it is that American colleges and universities have a team of excellent teaching staff. As the main force and important human resources of colleges and universities, teachers shoulder the heavy responsibility of cultivating talents. Teaching staff of high-quality can not only get more scientific research funds but also attracts more excellent students, which promotes popularity of colleges and universities. Therefore, teachers play a crucial role in the construction and development of a college or university. So how to select and recruit excellent teachers becomes the first question for the administration of American colleges and universities. American colleges and universities attach importance to the recruitment of teachers, and a set of fairly sound teachers'employment system has been formed in America.Based on the status of teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities, this thesis, employing approaches of documentation and comparison, gives a detailed analysis of the characteristics and influencing factors of teachers'employment system in American colleges and universities. Taking the essence, this thesis hopes that it will provide useful experience and reference for further perfecting teachers'employment system of our country.The main body has five parts: Part One is the generation and development of teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities. This part introduces the generating background and development history of teachers'employment system mainly from the perspective of historical development. Part Two is the status quo of teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities. To understand the present implementation status of teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities, this part gives a description of the condition, form, procedure, form and content of engagement system as well as provisions of decruitment and discharge. Part Three is the characteristics of teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities. Through the knowledge about the status quo of teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities, it is found that teachers'employment system has the following characteristics: the employment of teachers in colleges and universities is open, autonomous, flexible, strict and contractual. Part Four is the analysis of factors that influence teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities. It is the hardcore of the present study, which gives a deep analysis of the existence of teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities mainly from four aspects, philosophical foundation, economics, politics and culture. Part Five is the enlightenment from teachers'employment system of American colleges and universities to our country. Compared with America, certainly there are many problems that exist in teachers'employment system of colleges and universities in our country. Thus, in the future our country should strengthen the opacity of employment of teachers in colleges and universities to guarantee fairness; adopt a flexible form of employment and strict assessment mechanism to promote turnover of teachers jointly; formulate a sound teachers'employment system and safeguard the rights of teachers; respect academic freedom in colleges and universities and highlight the role of academic authority.
