In this paper, the strategy of "process-event" is applied to focus on the exact time when dispute happens. Some typical neighborhood dispute is reproduced by "narration". To acquire detailed information in neighborhood dispute, several approaches are used such as interviewing, field work and participant observation. Only based on such collected information, studies on how neighborhood dispute is initiated and escalated become possible and how to control neighborhood dispute effectively in countryside is explored in the later part.According to a series of research, I can make three basic conclusions as follows:1. Neighborhood dispute is of repressive which is reflected in two ways. On the one hand, the country society intends to suppress or avoid the dispute and on the other hand, the strong involved in dispute intends to suppress the weak. In such a complicated society, linked by morality and genetic connection, many neighborhood disputes are not solved appropriately. Rather than solving dispute, escalation is caused by improper suppression.2. Neighborhood dispute is initiated originating to interest competing and safeguarding dignity. In a contest between interest and justice, it is the preference of interest which caused the dispute, while the venting of anger sharpens the conflict.3. Dispute is a normal phenomenon in society. In the rural governance, negative impact of dispute deserves our attention and control. The key point to solve neighborhood dispute lies in the accurate understanding of multiple social subjects, their good performance in harmonizing conflict and clear assignment to control the negative impact of dispute thus guarantee the harmony and stability in countryside.
