Zhang Zhidong, as the last "carry the tripod Hill", not only took part in the political, economic, military reform events of the late Qing Dynasty, but also led the renovation of the historical process of China's education.The late Qing Dynasty is in the situation of "no changing for the thousands of years", Zhang Zhidong's thought and practice of education is often in transformation with the current situation of flux. Determining the educational system, managing the Faculty of his later years, he attached great importance to normal education, making a profound impact in the early formation and development of normal education of China.This study, exploring from the evolution of the modern academic background, dating back to the history of traditional academic flow in modern China and the gradual process of westernization of education under the impact of Western academy, analyzes four key factors of the early stage of normal education in China from being questioned by exclusion to the final established.Moreover, this study insists that Zhang makes normal education institutionally established in our country. However, throughout his whole process of education, from rectifying traditional education to the final effort of valuing normal education, the focus of his educational practice has experienced four major shifts, which are inseparable from the current situation. He also had a very long process of further development of understanding of normal education, many of his insights are derived from his success or failure of the education practice. For the rich experience of setting up schools, he wrote the "outs setting schools charter", which not only institutionally established our country's normal education, but also completely broke the traditional educational, achieving the important transition of China's education from the traditional to the modern paradigm.
