Academic assessment is an important component of student assessment, which also can be used as the reference for schools and teachers to make educational decision. The traditional methods of assessment which are represented by the paper-pencil test have been difficult to adapt the special requirements of assessment of students with special needs, the academic achievement of students with special needs can not be faithfully reflected, which makes special education teachers develop curriculum and improve instruction great difficult. As a result, it is urgent to make the academic assessment paradigm of special education transit. In this study, through the experiments, interviews and other methods, the researcher amends the model of curriculum based dynamic assessment to adapt the language instructional environment in schools with special needs, and probes into the application effects of the model in reading instruction which in order to assist teachers to make educational decisions. The chaning criterion design of single subject design models is selected in the study. According to the cognitive characteristics of the subjects and requirements of learning tasks, some related curriculum and teaching tools are developed. The assessment and instruction experiment are carried in two students with intellectual disabilities in middle grades. Some self-made reading comprehension tests and adapted rating scales are used for assessing the ability level of reading comprehension and learning potential of reading of the students. The data are analyzed by simplified time series analysis, test of rater consistency and qualitative analysis. The study found that:(1) The learning potential of reading of students with intellectual disabilities can be advanced by curriculum based dynamic assessment. (2) The ability level of reading comprehension of students with intellectual disabilities can be advanced by curriculum based dynamic assessment. (3) Curriculum based dynamic assessment can assist teachers to make educational decisions which adjust to the development of students. Finally, according to the research results, some advice are presented for teachers when the curriculum based dynamic assessment are implemented. One is that the mediated learning experience should be flexibly integrated into instruction according to the specific learning tasks. The other advice is that teachers should make adjustment of "learning behavioral rating scale" and "response to mediation scale" flexible according to students'characteristics, for the sake of accurate assessment of learning improvement situation of student.
