Canada as a nation of immigrants emphasis on civic education in the tradition. Recently, with the the changes of the international situation, Canada has begun the civic education programs reform. And the civic education programs assessment as a measure of quality of civic education programs is also developing. In order to promote effective implementation of civic education programs, we hope the thesis can provide enlightenment to our the development of civic education programs by the research of the assessment ofprimary and secondary schoolsgh schools in Canada civic education programs.This article is divided into four parts:Part I:The status of the school civic education programs of Canada, which consists of two parts, namely, the concept of civic education and civic education programs courses. Civic Education programs includes literacy and participation skills, political awareness and legal recognition, multi-cultural attitudes and values, environmental protection and global citizens. Civic education programs set by the major social studies from the primary and secondary subjects of history and geography to elaborate.Part II:The assessment of the school civic education programs of Canadia, which consists of two parts, namely, the internal assessment and external assessment of civic education programs. Internal assessment of civic education programs are described by two ways of the assessment objectives and assessment process and external assessment of civic education programs are also described from two ways. First,the assessment of the of the Civic Education programs by the International Association for the assessment of Educational Achievement.
