| It has been universally believed that motivation is one of the key elements that influence the success of language learning. Motivation influences learners'autonomy, attention, effort, persistence, even the application of learning strategies and eventually the achievement of language learning.At present, most the senior middle school students are lack of learning motivation in English learning, being passive and depending on teachers'teaching; meanwhile, some of the middle school teachers do not pay enough attention to motivation promotion, or fail to understand motivational variables and very few of them have a systematic understanding of motivation theory in their mind.Cooperative learning is one of the most popular fields in educational psychology and it refers to a learning approach, in which learners are working together to accomplish shared learning aims. Cooperative activities are at optimal level to keep students feel safe and can stimulate their arousal.This research aims to display the advantages of cooperative learning in promoting learners'motivation. This research lasts one term and 86 students participate in it by applying questionnaire, observations and interviews. After analyzing the collected data, the research positively proves that CL is advantageous in promoting students'learning motivation. Therefore, to apply Cooperative Learning in middle school English class accords with the requirements of the current curriculum reform in China. |
