Cooperative learning is a kind of teaching and learning activity which is based on team activity. It still requires that students should have some ability to handle information in team activity, which can be satisfied by modern information technique. It has begun to research for cooperative learning in China at present. But it still needs much more advance study about the influence of a combination of information technique and cooperative learning on students' learning. Especially in vocational education, it still is a valuable task how can the students be trained cooperative sprit, skills and quality to handle information while they accept knowledge which they need for their specialty. To explore a reasonable and effective teaching and learning method which can combine modern information technique and cooperative learning, a research was conducted according to a quasi- comparison experimentThe experiment involved two groups of students; one serving as the experimental class applied with a teaching and learning method combining modern information technique and cooperative learning, and the other control class applied traditional teaching and learning method. Both of them came from grade three of the specialty for combination of electronics and mechanics in Beijing Electronical industry school which the author worked in. Prior to and after the experiment, a quantitative analysis was made of the knowledge level of students', and also a qualitative analysis was made of the change of interest and initiative to study English for special purpose after the experiment on the experimental class. The pre-test score suggested no significant differences between the two groups of students, while the post-test clearly indicated a big advantage of experimental class over the control class. In terms of the analysis result of the survey of the interest and initiative to study English for special purpose, it showed that the majority of the students in the experimental class improved their interest and initiative during the teaching and learning activity in most of the semester, which indicated this teaching and learning method can advance the interest, also can increase their initiative to study English for special purpose.Based on the author's teaching practice and her limited reading or related literature, this article suggests that a teaching and learning method combining of information technique and cooperative learning can improve the score, interest and initiative to study English for special purpose, and influence obviously the middle or low level student especially. What's more, this teaching and learning method can heighten the learning ability, quality to handle information and cooperative sprit of the students to some extend.
