With the rapid development of information technology, the status of the Information technology curriculum has been ascended constantly. However, the junior high Information technology curriculum calls for instructional design for understanding. On one hand, the traditional instruction leads to such present situation that little students'information literacy has been cultivated. On the other hand, the demand from the times for the innovation talents quality and the development tendency of the junior high Information technology curriculum, require its instruction should pay close attention to understanding. Based on this background, this paper would like to provide such an opinion that the instruction of the junior high Information technology curriculum should emphasize understanding, and its instructional design should make some necessary change, that is, design for understanding.Firstly, this paper combed and analyzed the different perspectives of Psychology, Sociology and Learning Science about the connotation of understanding, then educed the view of understanding this paper based on. The author took understanding as an internal psychological process that students organized knowledge again on the base of the original knowledge and experience, and also a kind of ability that students used knowledge creatively in different contexts. Besides, understanding had three characteristics, namely dimension, gradation and nestification. Based on the above theory, this paper focused on the three components of the instructional design for understanding of the junior high Information technology curriculum, namely objective design, content design and activity design.Secondly, combined with examples, this paper elaborated the objective design from three steps, first analyzing the current understanding level of junior high students, then layering the objective, at last describing the objective clearly and exactly. And this paper elaborated the content design from two aspects, that is, we should choose content around core knowledge and pay attention to its development and enjoyment meanwhile, then take on the content according to the level development regular pattern of understanding.Finally, combined with examples, this paper elaborated the activity design from three aspects, that is, we should organize instructional activities centering on questions, the guidance should be given according to the characteristics of different types of lessons, and the evaluation should be carried out from the beginning to the end of the activity so as to know about the understanding change of the students.
