On Plato's Female Education

On west education thought history, when talking about education,west ancient educationist or historian very little refers to the female education, they totally summarizes the male and the female educates by human education,but this kind of concerned person's education in Western Educational Thought in ancient times more all refers to the masculine education.Plato is one of the fewest educationist in his discussion of his own educational thought ,speaking of female education .Plato is the first people to propose that male and female both have the same talent person, firstly putting forward the equality of men and women in the West, but also the first educationist. suggesting that men and women educates the equal in education..This article is mainly based on Plato's"Republic of Plato","Law"and other works exhibited for studying the content of female education , relying on Plato's concept of educational thinking, and strive to dig out of Plato's ideas of female education and thus to explore Plato's concept of female education.Through the historical background and ideological source of Plato's idea of female education,summing up the content, characteristics and main teaching methods of Plato's idea of female education, in order to have a general understanding of Plato's female education.This article focuses on the content and ideas of Plato's female education emphasisly.Plato has reached the politics target and individual target of female education from morals,wisdom,phsics education,beauty education four aspects , analysising of the dialectical relationship between the two targets ,has summarized the characteristics of female education.The conclusion part introduced the theory significance and the modern value and the huge influence to the later generations of Plato's female education.Basing on the dialectical analysis of Plato's female education, it has summed up the enlightenment which Plato's female education educated to our country.The main achievement of this article is to sort out the precious thought about female education brought forward by Plato.In the prevailing historical conditions,Plato can bring forward the equality of men and women education thought courageously ,which is truly one kind of progress revolutionary in the revolutionary thought.The study of Plato's concept of female education will help us learn from the history of gender equality advanced ideas and inspiration of future generations of women for equal rights, education, equal job opportunities (such as equal pay) pursuit.
