Objective: Understanding the status of child neglect level among preschool children of urban Wuhan and exploring influencing factors, so as to provide scientific knowledge for taking preventive measures and putting forward effective intervention means.Methods: Cluster method was employed to select preschool children in three kindergartens, and their parents were administered with Questionnaire of Development Environment and Related Factors of Preschool Children in Urban Wuhan. Epidata3.0 was used to establish database and SPSS12.0 to statistical analysis.Results: (1) Descriptive analysis:â‘ 1154 valid questionnaires were included in our analysis. There were 637 boys and 517 girls (sex ratio 1.23:1).â‘¡The total neglect rate and degree of preschool children of urban Wuhan were 24.96% and 40.72. The total neglect rates between ages had difference, aged 5 years highest and aged 4 years lowest, but the degrees between ages had no difference. The total neglect rates and neglect degrees between genders had no difference.â‘¢The rates of safety and emotional neglect between genders were higher,the lowest of boy's neglect was medical neglect and girs's was educational neglect. The degrees of educational and physical neglect were most serious, and the least was emotional neglect. The rates of educational and medical neglect aged 3 years were highest, and aged 6 years were lowest. The degrees of emotional and educational neglect aged 6 years were most serious, and aged 4 years were least. The propotion of two types and less at the same was 77.78%, and that of four types and more was 11.12%.(2) Non-conditional Logistic regression analysis showed that the significantly relevant factors of child neglect were: the mother's educational level, the communication between parents and kindgarten, the help of others to parents when difficult, parents'normal attitude, parents'attitude when children made mistakes, the close degree between children and parents, fathers'beating and cursing children, and children's character.(3) The stepwise regression analysis showed that the significantly relevant factors of child neglect degree were: the mother's educational level, the communication between parents and kindgarten, the help of others to parents when difficult, parents'normal attitude, parents'attitude when children made mistake, parents'educational attitude and playing of mothers and children when weekends.Conclusions: The neglect rate of preschool children of urban Wuhan was higher, and the neglect degree was more serious, so our society and families should greatly pay attention to child neglect. The health education should be strengthened to improve the cognition and comprehension of the neglect problem.The relevant health care network should be established for the screening and test.Parents should renew the knowledge and skill of nursing children, and constitute favorable parent-child relationship.The intercommunion between families and kindgartens should be enhanced to generally understand children.
