The great successes of Beijing Olympics bring an ideal opportunity for city-brand building in China. Sports events, big sports matches in particular are proved a good means of marking as well as other products. It is inevitable that big sports events play a positive role in the propaganda campaign of cities. While means of gaining favorable urban resources tend to be similar, it is of enormous practicality to study how to improve the competitiveness of the city by means of holding big sports events.This dissertation tends to analyze how big sports events play a positive role in forming a favorable city brand through out the world by taking Nanning International Half-Marathon Match as an example. Systematic theory and research results will be referred to during this process and the dissertation will take the perspectives of the field of sociology, marketing, and communication and management. And the essay will put forward suggestions on how to improve city-brand effect by means of sports events.
