In the first part of 20th century, the diffusion of John Dewey抯 educational thought in china is a highlight in the modem culture communication between the china and the western countries. To assimilate the nutrition from culture communication, and to push our culture development, 1 try to understand this history fact from the perspective of culture diffusion. The Whole paper detailedly analyzes the diffusion process of John Dewey's educational thought on china education. Based on these, 1 give some lessons and enlightenment on borrowing and assimilating the foreign educational theory. This thesis is divided into four parts: Part one explores the diffusion background of John Dewey's educational thought in china. By researching the trend of international education and the direction of china education, 1 think that the conditions of diffusion are enough. That is to say, the information owner and the information receiver agree on the information. Part two describes the diffusion process of John Dewey's educational thought in china. There are mainly two channels and three mediums Part three inquires into the influence of John Dewey's educational thought on china education. The influences mostly include three sides: education theory, education institution and education practice. Part four discusses the influence of John Dewey's educational thought on china education and offers several ideas on handling and borrowing the different cultures and expresses author's idea about the influence.
