This thesis not only research fundamentals and secondary factors, but also expound development tendency of modern center by means of comparison of civil and foreign center. The study suggests that fundamentals can be classified into body energy and skill and mind factors, which is determined by item feature of basketball and position of center. Basketball is as a skilled sport item of defiance in the same field. Skill is determinant factor. Body energy is full guarantee that center engage in basketball and improve own competitive level. Mind factor takes determinant effect especially at the high level tournament. Influencing factors include major and secondary aspects, the latter include sport career of center and external basketball level, etc. At the secondary section the author studied competitive ability of center, which reflected at offensive and defensive and backboard recovery. The author classified modern center as attack and pivot and all-sided types. Moreover. I researched the mode factor of competitive ability of modern center, and classified it as three grades, which stood for different weight. At last the author studied how to improve competitive ability of center, that is to say, researched selecting material or guide and control of training to modern center.
